HISTORY and DISCUSSION
Our meetings on the social history of the First World
War have been well attended and much interest has been shown. I,
personally, particularly enjoyed the January meeting when so many
people presented photos, memorabilia and stories of their own family
members from World War One. The range of items and recollections was
amazing.
For our next three meetings we are now moving into the
aftermath of that war and what followed.
As a reminder we meet on the 4th
Thursday of each month.
Thursday 28th April
Tom Garside will give a presentation on the “Social
Consequences of W.W.1” Venue Jo & John Fitch’s Brinksole
House.
Thursday 26th May
Tom Garside and John Fitch will continue with looking
at the aftermath of the war and will widen it further. If there is
time I shall follow with a brief look at the 1930s.
Venue Jo & John Fitch’s Brinksole House.
Thursday 23rd June
On this occasion we shall have something from a
different perspective though still looking at the Interwar Years. Tony
Errington will talk about the Development of Radio and Television
between the wars and Tony Dickerson will speak about developments in
Science and Technology during this time.
Venue: The
Fisher's, West Chiltington
This will be followed by a discussion on our future
programme.
